Dear Rotarians,
My daughter, Missy Hughes, was in Haiti when the earthquake hit that country. She is fine and so is the mission team. Word is getting out around Rotary about my daughter so I thought I'd share this update. The team has been able to accomplish a lot.
We received word today that the mission team leader, Reggie Tuck, is preparing the team to travel over the mountains into the Dominican Republic from Cange, Haiti. There's seats available on the plane leaving from the Dominican Republic. We are also checking on military transport if that works out as a backup option. We've created a logistical support team to have options for the team.
The mission team from Blacksburg United Methodist Church is safe and their spirits are good. The faith of Missy is very strong. She inspires me.
Thanks for your calls and emails. The work in Ghana is going well. The next grant is 95% complete and ready for approval. Many of the original grants are hitting water and showing wonderful results. I'll send out a status when I have time.
